I bought a cheap little webcam one weekend after getting the strangest idea that I absolutely needed one.

After playing with if for a few days the novelty wore thin. I don't spend a great deal of time chatting, or using IM's, and I don't feel want people watching me when I do. Since I also have a Linx box running 24/7, I thought I should actually put my webcam on the web. Getting a crappy webcam to work well under linux turned out to be somewhat frustrating, but it turned out to be a fun project. I also found a neat little program that, combined with a java-applet, serves up new frames, giving the appearance of streaming video.

The next problem is a lack of interesting subject material. My backyard has quite a few birds and squirrels in the summer, but in the winter it's pretty boring. I may move it soon, but anyway, here it is:
